The anticipation for a Jeep Wrangler pickup has been building ever since the company unveiled the Gladiator concept over a decade ago.
Jeep is finally answering fans as the company is preparing a Scrambler successor based on the 2018 Wrangler. Spy photographers have snapped the model on a handful of occasions but it's in the early stages of development and has always been heavy camouflaged.
Jeep hasn't said much about the Wrangler but it is slated to use aluminum components to reduce weight and improve fuel efficiency. Spy photos have also shown the model will have an upgraded interior with higher quality materials.
Rumors have suggested the Wrangler could be offered with with six engine options including two versions of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and two versions of the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. There could also be a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel and a 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel.
