When it comes to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, few drivers are more familiar with its 156 turns than Rhys Millen, and this clip shows what all that experience translates into.
Filmed from a helmet-mounted camera, the high-paced clip was taken onboard the race-prepped 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe which Millen competed in this year. While not quite as ferocious as the all-electric racers Millen has previously used at the event, this is no ordinary Hyundai.
Sharing barely anything with the street car, the sports car is an absolute animal, frequently losing traction and forcing the rear-end to slide out just inches away from the edge of cliffs that drop thousands of feet off the side of the mountain. The skill Millen displays while handling all of the grunt is truly phenomenal.
Although Millen’s 2017 time of 9:47.427 is well behind Sebastien Loeb’s 8:13 record, this doesn't make his run any less exciting.
