Lotus keeps churning out new versions of the Evora, with the latest member of the family called the GT430 which is also the most powerful road-legal Lotus ever made.
One of its most outstanding features is the unique bodywork and aero agenda, with the Evora GT430 getting full carbon front and rear bumpers, front splitter, front access panel, roof and rear wing. The tailgate is also a one-piece part and features a louvered section and is matched by composite quarter panels.
The new aero also boost the Evora’s downforce, which now produces up to 250kg at its 190mph top speed (305km/h). And because this is a new Lotus, the GT430 tips the scales at 1,258kg dry, which is 26kg lighter from the already light Evora Sport 410.
Power comes from an updated version of the supercharged 3.5-liter V6 which makes 430hp (436PS) and 440Nm (325lb-ft) of torque and enables the latest Lotus to hit 60 from a standstill in 3.7 seconds. A titanium exhaust is standard, as well as a Torsen limited-slip differential and a six-speed manual gearbox with a low-inertia, single-mass flywheel for faster gear changes.
Lotus has also added a set of Ohlins TTX two-way adjustable dampers, with 20 click-adjustment compression and rebound settings, and new lightweight Eibach springs. Tires are 10mm wider, with the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s measuring 245/35 R19 at the front and 295/30 R20 at the rear.
The British company says that the new Evora GT430 lapped their Hethel test track in 1 minute 25.8 seconds, making it as fast as the more hardcore 3-Eleven on the same circuit.
Lotus will build just 60 examples of the new Evora GT430, which will be available only as a strict two-seater. A US-spec version of the GT430 will follow in spring 2018.
