Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus has been granted low volume manufacturer status by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The move will allow the company to produce up to 325 vehicles annually which are exempt from some federal motor vehicle and emission regulations. However, the company notes the cars will still meet all the necessary safety and emissions standards that are required to register the vehicle under state law.
Thanks to the company's new status, the automaker confirmed it will offer three different models including the SCG003S, SCG003CS, and SCG003C.
The SCG003S Stradale is being billed as a "fully trimmed" street-legal version of the company's race car. It is slated to feature a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that develops more than 750 hp (559 kW) and 590 lb-ft (799 Nm) of torque. The engine will be connected to a seven-speed transmission which will enable the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 2.9 seconds before hitting a top speed in excess of 217 mph (349 km/h).
The SCG003CS will go one step further as it will be positioned as a track-focused model that is still street-legal. The company said the first registered road vehicle will be shown at the Quail Motorsports Gathering on August 18th.
Last but not least, the SCG003C is company's full-bore race car which is track-only. It's the same model that lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6 minutes and 33 seconds and took a class win at the 2017 24 Hours of Nürburgring race.
The cars will be priced from $2 million and the company only expects to build between four and six vehicles for the 2018 model year. That number will nearly double for 2019 and the company says "we will likely sell out our productive capacity very soon."
