Travis Pastrana Storms Up Mt. Washington In His 600 HP Subaru

A couple of days after Travis Pastrana stormed up the Mt. Washington hillclimb to set a new record, the full video of the run has been released.

Despite not being as well known around the world as the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the Mt. Washington Hillclimb has been run since 1904 and traverses 7.6 miles up the mountain and along some truly challenging pieces of road.

Unlike Pikes Peak, which became fully paved in 2013, the Mt. Washington Hillclimb is still a mixture of tarmac and dirt and doesn’t feature any guardrails. Even extremely dangerous parts of the road are left exposed, with sheer cliffs just inches away.

Not fazed by the danger, Pastrana sped up the course in 5 minutes and 44.72 seconds with his 600 hp Subaru WRX STI rally car, comfortably beating the previous 6:09.9 record that was set by David Higgins in 2014.
