Brabus And Startech Combine For Monstrous Amounts Of HP At IAA

Brabus, along with their subsidiary Startech, have brought a great deal of luxury models to this year's Frankfurt Motor Show, from 900 PS beasts to sportier-looking Land Rovers.

Taking center stage for Brabus was their latest take on the Mercedes-AMG G65, powered by a 900 PS (887 HP) 6.3-liter V12 engine, that also produces an incredible 1,500 Nm (1,106 lb-ft) of torque.

In case you missed our original story on this insanely-powerful G-Wagen, we'll remind you that it can get from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.9 seconds. Yes, 3.9 seconds, and it's shaped like a brick. So much for physics.

Another Brabus-tuned model that really stood out to us was the Ultimate E Concept, which also made its world debut at the IAA.

Powered by an electric motor and a 22 kWh battery pack, this electrified Smart ForTwo has a range of 160 km (100 miles) and will get from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds. If this sounds in any way unnatural, it's because the Ultimate E is packing a lot more power than your regular ForTwo. We're talking 204 PS (201 HP) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft). That's Clio RS type of muscle in a car that weighs significantly less.

Other models worth mentioning from Brabus were of course the classics, the luxury four-door models, convertibles, the 4x4 squared, and the 850 GLS-based Widestar, which is able to hit 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds.

As for Startech, they're less focused on power output and more inclined to make your premium or luxury SUV look like it might have all the power it would ever need.

Their latest reveal has been a new accessories range for the Land Rover Discovery, adding a new front spoiler, modded rear bumper, custom 22" wheels, plus a few interior refinements. As for the other models, we can see two Range Rovers, a Maserati Levante and a Bentley Bentayga, the latter pushing out 710 PS.
