Bugatti Filmed The Chiron's Record Run With A Second Chiron

Last week, the Bugatti Chiron sprinted from 0-400-0 km/h (0-249mph-0) in a blistering 41.96 seconds and the French marque published an intriguing video of the hypercar reaching 400 km/h in record time.

Beyond the obvious impressiveness of the car’s acceleration, the clip piqued our interest because it showed the Chiron accelerating to 400 km/h (249mph) from a chase camera.

Initially we thought maybe a drone had shot the video but of course, a drone can’t go anywhere near that fast. We also thought there was a chance the video was simply sped up to make it look like the car was accelerating when in reality it wasn’t. We were wrong.

As it turns out, Bugatti actually used a second Chiron to capture the unique angle, accelerating the two almost side-by-side down the main straight at Ehra-Lessien, Volkswagen’s restricted test track.

The more you know.
