Four-Door Opel Insignia GSi Looking Mighty Good In Frankfurt

With a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol unit putting down decent numbers, Opel's latest Passat/Mondeo rival is definitely dressed to impress in GSi form.

Unveiled back in July, the Insignia GSi makes use of 260 PS (252 HP) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, as well as less overall weight than the older OPC version, with approximately 160 kg (353 kg) in its favor.

It will also lap the Nurburgring quicker than the OPC, despite being down on power by some 69 horses. In other words, it's a strong product that, at least on paper, looks like a significant upgrade over previous fast Insignias.

Speaking of how it looks, this particular gray model on display at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show has a dark, aggressive theme going for it, which some people tend to like, as opposed to getting the car in red, orange or other bright colors.

The sporty front and rear bumpers, together with the large 20" easily communicate that this isn't your regular, everyday Insignia, and with the help of bigger brakes and adaptive dampers, getting it out on the road should be quite an interesting experience - especially when you've got all-wheel drive with torque vectoring.

The new Opel Insignia GSi will be available to order in Germany halfway through next month.

We'll see the Insignia as the 2018 Buick Regal in the States with the sports version being the GS that comes with a 310hp 3.6-liter V6.
