Would You Get Audi's Q2 Over The Slightly Larger BMW X1 Or Mercedes GLA?

Audi have put plenty of effort into expanding their SUV family, and the smallest of them all wears the Q2 badge.

It's placed right under the Q3 as Audi's entry-level crossover, and it appeals not only to customers looking for a small, premium crossover, but also those who wouldn't mind getting something more compact than the BMW X1 or Mercedes-Benz GLA.

The Audi Q2 goes up against the MINI Countryman, although on a plusher scale, with a somewhat funky design that's new to Ingolstadt, and several customization options offered both on the outside and in the cabin.

Open the door and you will see the dashboard borrowed from the Audi A3, and that's not a coincidence, since the Q2 is based on the same underpinnings as its hatch/saloon/convertible siblings. It gets the brand's latest MMI infotainment system that's easy to use, in addition to wireless smartphone charging, digital display, and other amenities, as detailed by WhatCar's Rebecca Jackson in her review.

Space for rear passengers is cramped, especially in the middle, but if you don't mind scraping shoulders with your fellow traveler, then it could sit five.

Head out on the open road and you will find that the Audi Q2 is a relaxing long-distance cruiser that can take corners with agility. There is a bit of a body roll, and selecting the right suspension and engine could make the difference between loving or hating it, but it seems that the small SUV could turn out to be a clever choice.
