Your Classic 1937 Party Bus Has Arrived, And It's A National Treasure

Need to move a lot of people around? There's any number of buses available on the market – but few of them offer the kind of style that this one does.

It's a 1937 White 706, coachbuilt by Bender for use as a tour bus at Yellowstone National Park. And it's coming up for auction next month in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

The bus not only features five doors (plus the tailgate) but a removable canvas roof that offered visitors to Yellowstone what were sure to have been fantastic views of the protected wilderness. 98 of them were made between 1936 and 1938, but we doubt many of them are still in working condition.

This one is not only operational, but has been mechanically modernized to make it more usable. It packs a 300-cubic-inch Ford straight six, an automatic transmission, power steering and brakes, electric fuel pump, and 12-volt electrical system – all modern equipment that wasn't available back prior to World War II.

RM Sotheby's had Greg Keysar capture the classic bus in the gallery below, and expects it will fetch between $30,000 and $40,000 when the gavel drops on October 5.
