The official Fast & Furious Twitter account has announced the ninth installment in the popular franchise will be released on April 10th, 2020.
The news comes as a bit of a surprise as it appears the movie has been pushed back by a year. There's no word on what caused the delay but Vin Diesel previously stated FF9 would hit theaters on April 19th, 2019. At the time, he stated the tenth and final installment would be released on April 2nd, 2021.
Little is known about the upcoming film but Digital Spy reports the main cast of Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, and Chris Bridges are expected to return. However, Rodriguez has previously suggested she could leave if the next movie doesn't "show some love to the women of the franchise."
The future of Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham is also unclear but rumors have suggested they could be given a spin-off movie.
While The Fate of The Furious only received a 66% approval rating from Rotten Tomatoes, it fared better with audiences and went on to gross $1.2 billion according to Box Office Mojo.
