Ford will increase its involvement in the World Rally Championship following M-Sport’s hugely successful campaign with Sebastien Ogier.
Ford ended its factory involvement in the sport after the 2012 season, leaving M-Sport as a solo effort using Ford rally cars. On the back of winning this year’s title, Ogier expressed his desire to see Ford provide factory support to M-Sport.
Well, Ogier’s Christmas wish has been granted with confirmation that the British team will now be known as M-Sport Ford World Rally Team.
Speaking to Motorsport, M-Sport boss Malcolm Wilson expressed his optimism for the partnership.
“It’s great to see the Ford name back alongside M-Sport in the World Rally Championship. We welcome the increased level of technical support from Ford Performance. Defending the two world titles is going to be a big job for us next year, so we’re very grateful for the support from Ford.”
M-Sport recently confirmed that Sebastien Ogier and Elfyn Evans will stay with the squad next season.
