"We will have three new products (in the EV segment), which will be high performance ones," Mahindra Electric Mobility CEO Mahesh Babu told the Times of India.
The three new EVs, which are expected to be SUVs, will offer a driving range of 350km (217 miles), 300km (186 miles) and 250km (155 miles) respectively, and the quickest of the bunch will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h (62miles) in 8 seconds.
Moreover, the Indian carmaker says that, by 2020, batteries will be significantly cheaper than today, enabling them to offer their electric vehicles in more affordable prices, which is very important in a market as price-sensitive as India.
Mahindra is currently selling four electric vehicles in India, including the e2o small city car, the eVerito compact sedan, the eSupro Van and the eAlfa rickshaw.
