2018 Mercedes-AMG GT Recalled To Untangle Its Seat Belts

Mercedes didn't quite invent the seat belt, but with innovations like the pretensioner and the three-point belt, you might argue that it perfected it.

That's why it's surprising to see the German automaker having trouble with the most essential of safety devices – and on one of its flagship models, no less.

We're referring, of course, to the Mercedes-AMG GT, 1,263 examples of which from the 2018 model year are being recalled in the United States to fix a problem with the seat belts binding in their guidance loops and leaving slack.

The recall includes base, C, S, and R models, which will need to have their seat belt guides reconfigured at their local dealerships.

At the same time, Mercedes is also recalling 64 examples of the GLE 550e hybrid crossover to replace their tire-pressure labels. These in addition to the batch of recalls issued just the other day.
