Kia is previewing the Niro EV with a new concept car that will make its world debut in Las Vegas, on January 8, during the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
The automaker wasn’t keen on releasing any details about it so far, except that it has "a highly efficient battery-electric powertrain", "features a never-seen-before human-machine interface (HMI)", and has "an advanced new 'motion graphic' lighting system".
However, from previous scoops and reports, we know that it will likely make use of the same zero-emission powertrain that's found on the Hyundai Ioniq Electric.
In the latter, the electric motor is good for 118hp (120PS) and 218lb-ft (296Nm) of torque, and it's backed up by a 28kWh battery that allows it to cover a range of 124 miles (199km), as per EPA.
On the visual front, the new Kia Niro EV features a slightly updated front end, with a revised grille that incorporates the charging port, repositioned fog lamps, and probably a tweaked bumper. Other noticeable features include a set of Y-shaped LED lights on both ends, along with the illuminated 'Niro EV' lettering incorporated into the rear bumper, which is also new.
The production version of the car is expected to debut later this year.
