Next-Gen Alfa Romeo 8C Is An Intriguing Prospect

Cast your mind back a decade and you’ll remember the stunning Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, one of the most beautiful cars produced in recent memory.

Launched as a halo model for the brand, the 8C Competizione, and subsequent 8C Spider, set alight the hearts and minds of auto enthusiasts across the globe. The duo were only produced in limited numbers, but did wonders for Alfa Romeo in terms of publicity.
Fast forward to 2018, and the company is looking to cash in on demand for high-performance sedans and crossovers, building the likes of the Giulia Quadrifoglio and Stelvio Quadrifoglio. A new halo model probably isn’t on FCA’s product roadmap, but if it is, we hope it looks just like this updated 8C, recently rendered by Behance artist Yung Presciutti.
The rendering takes some inspiration from the previous 8C, but overhauls the exterior design and adopts an even more aggressive and low-slung profile.
At the front, it sports a set of slim headlights and lacks any traditional air intakes, instead making sole use of a small lower grille and a tweaked version of Alfa’s triangular nose.
At the rear, Presciutti has designed a pair of bulging wheel arches, a large lip spoiler and a pair of semi-circular taillights, along with a set of centrally-mounted tailpipes.
What are the chances of Alfa building a successor to the 8C? Close to zero, we guess, but if CEO Sergio Marchionne has decided that Ferrari should build an SUV, then nothing is impossible.
