Subaru wants to lure visitors at the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon to its stand with a new concept car, the Viziv Performance STI.
The study builds upon last year's Viziv, albeit with some styling changes made all around, with the most significant one being the large wing added to the boot.
Look closer and you will also see a tweaked rear diffuser made from carbon fiber, new side sills, reshaped front bumper with larger air intakes and STI branding, and a slightly modified grille. Emphasizing its sportier stance are the red accents applied to different parts of the exterior.
The rest of the car, though, appears to have remained untouched, but then again, at the time of writing, Subaru hasn’t treated us with an official press release, so the live images are all we've got.
Nevertheless, the new Subaru Viziv Performance STI is said to preview the next generation WRX STI, but knowing that the Japanese car marque tends to drastically tone down its concepts for production, this one will likely follow the same route.
Expected to arrive within the next few years, the upcoming Subaru WRX STI is believed to drop the current 2.5-liter Boxer engine and replace it with an entirely new unit. Some say that electrification might be on the table too, but we'll just have to wait and see.
