Toyota HiLux Invincible 50 Chrome Edition Celebrates 50th Anniversary

On March 21, 1968, Toyota launched the original HiLux in Japan (Europe followed the next year). So now, it has launched a new special edition, called Invincible 50 Chrome, to celebrate the pickup’s 50th birthday.

Being one of the most successful models in Toyota’s range, the HiLux has managed to sell more than 18 million units globally. That makes it one of the most popular trucks around the world.

The new edition of the HiLux comes with a range of bespoke accessories,  which Toyota Europe says, make it “instantly recognizable as a special edition vehicle, but are also ideally suited to a broad range of both professional and leisure activities”.

These features include chrome bars for the bed, side steps, a chrome front guard and under-run, black fender protectors and a set of 18-inch alloys with a machined face finish. There’s also a plastic bed liner, as well as special scuff plates.

Power still comes from a 2.4-liter D-4D diesel engine that makes 148hp (150PS) and 295lb-ft (400Nm) of peak torque. It is fitted with an engine stop/start function for improved fuel economy.
