Tesla Model 3 Spotted Looking Ready For Production

As the clock ticks down to Elon Musk's claimed July production date for the Tesla Model 3, a near production-spec prototype has been snapped up close on Imgur by user WattLOL8, offering us an unimpeded look at the vehicle's completed design.

Just as Musk has said all along, the exterior and interior designs of the brand's entry-level electric sedan are essentially identical to the concept that premiered over 12 months ago. Of particular interest for us are the headlights which despite the vehicle's relatively low starting price, have quite an intricate inner design that looks far more complex than those of the Model S and Model X.

Elsewhere, this prototype has some fairly ugly panel gaps but in all probability, these will be rectified for customer-spec production examples.

Interestingly, the Tesla engineers who left the Model 3 unattended and charging opted to cover up the steering wheel and large central screen, sparking some hope among fans that the brand may be hiding a little easter egg in the cabin.

Last month, Tesla released a chart comparing the Model 3 against the current Model S in its ongoing bid to anti-sell the entry-level car. The chart revealed that the model will have over 215 miles of driving range and accelerate from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in a brisk 5.6 seconds. It also confirmed that the minimalist interior will be dominated by a 15-inch digital touchscreen.
