Nissan R34 GT-R V-Spec II Nür R-Tune Is A JDM Special

The R35-generation Nissan GT-R may be the fastest Godzilla ever, but in the collector car world, it is the Skyline R34 that has really surged in value in recent years. In particular, the various special edition models built during its production run.

Of all R34 models created, the GT-R Nismo Z-Tune remains the most valuable with some examples fetching in excess of $575,000 USD but just one step below the Z-Tune is the V-Spec II Nür Nismo R-Tune, reportedly limited to between 25 and 30 units.

In November 2001, the Japanese carmaker released the V-Spec II Nür, limiting it to 718 examples worldwide and following it up with the M-Spec II Nür, better suited to road use and restricted to 285 units. For owners of the V-Spec II Nür that wanted even greater performance, Nismo offered its R-Tune upgrade for about 30,000 pounds ($39,000) and only ever created a couple dozen of them.

In R-Tune guise, the famed RB26 of the Skyline R34 reportedly produces about 450 hp and this example, for sale from 4 Star Classics in the UK, has just 20,175 miles on the clock and a 184,995 ($241,177) price tag, making it more expensive than a Ferrari 430 Scuderia also listed by the seller.

It certainly isn’t cheap but if R-Tune prices continue to soar like the Z-Tune, it could prove to be a handy investment.
