After its big premiere in Barcelona this summer, the new generation Audi A8 has been taken to the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show for the world to see.
It offers something extra over its rivals, the BMW 7-Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class - a Level 3 autonomous driving system, the first one of its kind on the market.
The high-tech feature comes to aid drivers, who will be able to focus on other activities under heavy traffic, as well as on highways, and takes care of the acceleration, steering, and braking, while being able to handle some tough situations, such as another vehicle cutting in front.
However, don't expect to take a nap behind the wheel, because if the AI Traffic Jam Pilot detects that the driver's eyes remain closed for a long period of time, it will alert them to resume driving, and if ignored, then the saloon will come to a complete stop in its lane.
Those visiting the brand's stand in Frankfurt won't get to experience the autonomous driving, but they will see its evolutionary styling better, which was inspired by the 2014 Prologue Concept.
Pricing for the 2018 Audi A8 starts at €90,600 ($108,336) in Germany, while its longer sibling, which adds the 'L' suffix, can be had from €94,100 ($112,521).
