Shelby Baja Raptor Boasts Off-Road Tweaks And 525+ HP

Shelby American has introduced its new truck based on the 2018 Ford F-150 Raptor.

Dubbed the Shelby Baja Raptor, the model has an aggressive exterior thanks to off-road bumpers, a ram air hood, and rear "chase rack." The truck has also been equipped with LED auxiliary lights, power retractable running boards, and two spare tire mounts in the bed.

The interior receives a modest makeover as Shelby installs custom leather seats, special floor mats, and carbon fiber trim. Other changes include center console badging and an individually numbered plaque on the dashboard.

Power is provided by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that has been equipped with a cold air intake, a high-flow air filter, and a custom engine tune. These changes enable the engine to produce more than 525 hp (391 kW) and 610 lb-ft (826 Nm) of torque.

Besides the upgraded engine, Shelby installed a 3-inch lift kit developed by FOX Racing. The truck also comes equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 35-inch BFGoodrich KM2 off-road tires.

Production will be capped at 500 units for the 2018 model year and pricing is expected to start at $117,460. Customers who already own a Raptor can have it converted into a Shelby Baja Raptor for $49,295.
