2018 Volkswagen Polo Debuting On June 16

Volkswagen wants to conquer the supermini segment with the new generation Polo that debuts this summer.

Set to be unveiled on June 16, at 11 am CEST (5 am EST), ahead of its public debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the new VW Polo will replace the current iteration which turns 8 this year.

A camouflaged prototype was subjected to an official film a few weeks ago, and we also got the chance to look at its undisguised body, courtesy of a couple of leaked images.

However the Germans still want us to act surprised, as they launch a new teasing campaign which highlights how the Polo evolved over the years, culminating with the reveal of its penned silhouette.

The upcoming Polo will be underpinned by the MQB A0 platform, shared with the upcoming Skoda Fabia and new Seat Ibiza. It will also benefit from a wide assortment of small gasoline and diesel engines, and topping them all will be the range-topping GTI, which is said to use the 2.0-liter TSI engine from the previous Golf GTI.
