Elon Musk continues to drop hints on social media about the next-gen Tesla Roadster, and the latest sounds borderline unbelievable.
When asked whether the next-gen Roadster will do a 0-60mph in under 2 seconds, Tesla’s CEO responded by saying that this would make an interesting target.
A few months ago, Musk said that we’re still “some years away” from getting a successor to the Roadster but that didn’t stop him from also saying that the new model will be the first one to get a “Maximum Plaid” mode, which is Tesla speak for being even faster than the existing “Ludicrous” mode.
Leaving aside the obvious references to the Spaceballs movie, the next Roadster should beat the official 0-60mph time set by the Model S P100D Ludicrous at 2.5 seconds in order to justify its “Maximum Plaid” credentials.
And as Elon Musk puts it, that should count only if the new model is capable of pulling these insane kind of numbers right off the production line with street legal tires.
That would an interesting target. Would, of course, only count if capable of doing so right off the production line with street legal tires.
