Audi's Frankfurt Plan Includes A New Concept And Two Audi Sport Models

The Frankfurt Motor Show is right around the corner but Audi has been unusually quiet about this year's event.

That's changing today as the four-ring brand has confirmed plans to introduce an assortment of new models and concepts. Audi is keeping details under wraps but confirmed they will unveil a concept car that offers a "look at the mobility of the future."

Little is known about the model but Audi says it will have piloted driving technology, advanced connectivity, and a futuristic powertrain. Speaking of the latter, the concept will reportedly be an electric vehicle with next-generation battery technology.

Besides the concept, the automaker will introduce two new "high-performance" models from Audi Sport GmbH. Rumors have suggested these vehicles will the RS4 Avant and the rear-wheel drive R8 V10 GT.

The RS4 Avant has been spied on multiple occasions and reports suggest the car will be equipped with a Porsche-sourced twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine. Nothing is official but speculation says the engine will produce upwards of 450 PS (331 kW) and enable the station wagon to rocket from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in less than four seconds.

The R8 GT is a little bit of a mystery but it is expected to be lighter than the standard model thanks to the elimination of the quattro all-wheel drive system. The vehicle could also feature some other weight saving tweaks but we'll find out soon enough.
