Ford GT Production Hits A Snag, Deliveries To Be Delayed

Customers can hardly wait to get their hands on the new Ford GT but the automaker has revealed it will have to delay the delivery of a handful of models.

According to Automotive News, Ford is suffering from supplier constraints and homologation testing issues as part of its effort to ramp up production.

The company reportedly sent a letter to buyers earlier this week saying "The craftsmanship required to build these vehicles for global markets has required that we adjust our original timing projections." The letter went on to say the company will soon provide an updated three-month delivery window.

The delay will likely prove disheartening to potential owners but the issue appears relatively minor as the company told the publication the ramp-up process is nearly complete.

Ford has already delivered around 50 GTs and once the process is complete, the automaker should be able to build at least one GT every day.

Despite the delays, we're sure owners won't mind once they get their hands on the model which features a twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that produces 647 hp (482 kW) and 550 lb-ft (744 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which enables the supercar to hit a top speed of 216 mph (347 km/h).
