Someone Got A Heck Of A Deal On This Used Mercedes S65 AMG

Want to get your hands on a new Mercedes-AMG S65? Yeah, the one with the 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12. It'll cost you. Over a quarter-million dollars, in fact.

Or you could look for one used, like this one here that sold for less than a quarter that amount.

Consigned to Barrett-Jackson for its recent Northeast sale in Connecticut, this 2006 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG (as it was branded back then) is over a decade old. But it still packs that enormous twelve with 604 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque – only 17 horses short of today's model, and with the same measure of twist.

All decked out in black inside and out, with heavily tinted windows, black-spoked wheels, and a blanked-out grille, this top-of-the-line S-Class was worth over $170,000 when new. But with some 69,000 miles on the clock, it sold for $24,750 when the gavel dropped – which a) wouldn't be enough to get you into a new CLA250 today, and b) represents a heck of a deal at less than $34 per lb-ft of torque, and c) is just as well, because the owner's going to need some extra cash on hand to fuel up this big-bore beast.
