New Skoda CUV To Challenge The Nissan Juke From 2019

After the successful launch of the Kodiaq and Karoq, Skoda is now interested in expanding its family with an entirely new crossover.

It should combine the practicality of an estate, with the design of an SUV, reports Autocar, and it will be launched in 2019, as a Czech alternative to the similarly sized Seat Arona, with global markets in mind, including Europe and China.

On the styling front, it will be instantly recognizable as a Skoda, carrying the brand's recent boxy design language, and beneath its fresh sheet metal, it's expected to use the MQB A0 platform, which already underpins cars such as the latest Volkswagen Polo and Seat Ibiza.

Nothing is known about the engine lineup so far, but we should see some of the units of the Seat Arona under the hood of the new Skoda crossover. Moreover, it's also believed that the vehicle will gain some hybrid versions, and front-wheel drive is expected to be the sole choice, at least initially.

Besides plotting a new crossover, the automaker is also interested in replacing the Rapid. It too should ride on the MQB A0 platform, and get a new design, but it remains unclear when Skoda might present it.
