Chevy Releases Video Of Spectacular Camaro ZL1 1LE 7:16.04 'Ring Lap

By conquering the Nurburgring's Nordschleife in roughly 7 minutes and 16 seconds, the 2018 Chevy Camaro ZL1 1LE is now officially the fastest Camaro to ever lap the famous German track.

To put things into perspective, the ZL1 1LE's time is good enough to place it 13.56 seconds ahead of the ZL1 with the 10-speed automatic that Chevy tested back in 2016.

"With chassis adjustability unlike any vehicle in its peer group, the Camaro ZL1 1LE challenges supercars from around the world regardless of cost, configuration or propulsion system," stated Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer.

"To make up more than a second per mile on the Nordschleife compared to the ZL1 automatic is a dramatic improvement and speaks to the 1LE's enhanced track features."

What we found particularly impressive was the footage itself, with Camaro race engineer Bill Wise behind the wheel. You can see everything from speed to which gear he's in, to how hard he's fighting to keep the car from sliding around, using constant steering inputs.

"The harder you push the Camaro ZL1 1LE, the more it rewards you on the track," said Wise. "It offers total control, with the confidence that it will deliver lap after lap."

With a price of $69,996, the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE is powered by a 650 HP LT4 supercharged V8 engine, while also featuring racing-based adjustable suspension components, special front dive planes, a carbon fiber rear wing and exclusive Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires.
