2018 IndyCars Test At Indianapolis For The First Time

Juan Pablo Montoya and Oriol Servia have completed the first tests of 2018-spec IndyCar racers and all reports appear to be positive.

Next year, both Honda and Chevrolet will be required to use the same Dallara-supplied aero kits and both manufacturers conducted test of the superspeedway kit at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier in the week.

The 2018-spec cars don’t just look much better than those used in recent years, both Montoya and Servia said they immediately felt confident in the cars and that the new aero kits should reduce turbulence, allowing for even closer racing.

Changes have also been made to ensure the cars are safer than ever, thanks largely to the implementation of wider side pods situated further forward and the option of installing cockpit protection if it’s eventually deemed necessary.

No information has been given about when tests of the road course aero kit will be conducted.
