2018 Ford Focus RS To Get A $5,000 Price Hike, Claims Report

Ford recently announced plans to offer a limited edition Focus RS to celebrate the end of production of the current model.

Unfortunately, the car is going to be rather costly, if CarsDirect is correct, as the publication is reporting the model will carry a base price of $41,995. That's a substantial $5,000 increase over the 2017 Focus RS and will make the car nearly $7,000 more expensive than the Honda Civic Type R.

While the price has climbed substantially, the 2018 Focus RS will come with a modestly revised exterior that includes a gloss black roof, gloss black mirror caps, and 19-inch forged alloy wheels with blue center caps.

The interior has also been upgraded with leather / suede microfiber Recaro sport seats, additional carbon fiber trim, and GPS navigation. Drivers will also find an eight-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.

Power continues to be provided by a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that produces 350 hp (261 kW) and 350 lb-ft (474 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a six-speed manual transmission which sends power to an all-wheel drive system through a new limited-slip differential. This enables the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.7 seconds.

Only 1,000 Focus RS models will be offered in the United States and deliveries are scheduled to begin later this year.
