Range Rover Velar Now Available With JLR’s New 300PS 2.0L Turbo

The Range Rover Velar is the latest model to receive the new turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine from the Ingenium family.

Following the example of Jaguar’s XE, XF and F-Pace models, the new engine slots between the existing 250PS 2.0-liter and the 380PS supercharged 3.0-liter V6 versions of the Range Rover Velar.

The new turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with the codename P300 produces 296hp (300PS) and 295lb-ft (400Nm) of peak torque, featuring a twin scroll turbocharger with ceramic ball bearings for less friction and a higher-flow compressor wheel that delivers 26 percent more air.

Land Rover claims that this new version of the Velar can hit 60mph from a standstill in 5.7 seconds, with the car now being available to order.

The Range Rover Velar fills the gap between the smaller Evoque and the Range Rover Sport, rivalling models like the Porsche Macan, BMW X4 and the Mercedes GLC Coupe. The new member of the Range Rover family also shares its aluminum underpinnings with the Jaguar F-Pace.

Leaving the striking exterior design aside, the new Range Rover Velar is also the first model to feature two ultra-wide 10-inch touchscreen displays, with the system called Touch Pro Duo. The high-tech infotainment system looks like nothing else on the market right now and comes with an Intel quad-core processor, a 60GB SSD and ultra-fast Ethernet network.

Sales of the new Range Rover Velar will begin this summer.
