Brand New 2006 Ford GT Is Hitting The Auction Block

If you missed out on the new Ford GT, an 11-year old example could turn out to be the next best thing, as it has just 60 miles on the clock.

Set to shine under the Californian sun at Monterey for the RMSothebys auction that takes place on August 18 and 19, it's described by the vendor as being "the ideal example of the iconic modern American supercar, still very much as it was delivered new over a decade ago".

It is the 1,664th out of a total of 2,011 GTs, and the 145th of 190 finished in Midnight Blue Clearcoat, features the full set of white racing stripes, forged aluminum BBS rims, and a 5.4-liter V8 engine that delivers 550 horses and 500 pound-feet (678Nm) of torque.

The 0-60mph (96km/h) sprint takes 3.3 seconds, bringing it closer to the Mercedes-McLaren SLR and Porsche Carrera GT, rather than the Ferrari 360 which was Ford's original target.

The auction house estimates that it will change hands for $275,000-$350,000, and bidders should know that this Ford GT is also accompanied by the delivery documentation, product information, and a copy of the window sticker.
