Is The BMW M4 CS Worth The Huge Premium Over The Standard Model?

The new BMW M4 CS is one of those models that, on paper, sound like the perfect sports car for the road; is it though?

BMW’s goal was to create the most complete M4, with the CS positioned right below the limited and really hardcore GTS. But unlike the GTS, BMW is set to build as many as they can in the next two years.

The chassis is upgraded with stiffer springs and dampers, fatter anti-roll bars, stickier tires and a set of optional carbon-ceramic brakes. The twin-turbo straight-six engine now makes 454hp and 442lb-ft of torque, 10hp and 37lb-ft more than the M4 Competition.

Together with the additional weight-saving measures that make the M4 CS 10kg lighter than the Competition model and the standard dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission, BMW claims a 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed that’s limited to 174mph (278km/h).

It all sounds very nice indeed, but then there’s the price, as BMW is asking 40,200 euros more than the regular M4 Coupe for a CS in Germany and around £30k more in the UK. Which begs the question: is the BMW M4 CS worth its quite hefty price tag? Autocar delivers its verdict on the video linked below.
