Mercedes Thinking Of Building The AMG Project One In The UK

The upcoming Mercedes-AMG Project One might be built in the UK, since the engine and various other parts of the hypercar are already going to be produced at the Mercedes F1 facilities there, in Brixworth and Brackley.

AMG boss Tobias Moers confirmed that Mercedes is considering assembling the Project One in the UK to Autocar, when it arrives into production in 2020.

Mercedes AMG is planning a very limited production run of 275 examples, which is already sold-out at $2.7 million each and was over four times oversubscribed before the company finalized the list with the lucky owners.

The production version isn’t going to be named Project One, with Mercedes still working on an official name. AMG’s hybrid hypercar will use the same 1.6-liter V6 engine block, cylinder heads, electrically-driven turbocharger and pneumatic valve spring technology with the Mercedes F1 powertrain, making it the road car with the most F1 components ever.

Mercedes quotes ‘over 1000hp’, a 217mph top speed and a rather shocking 0-124mph in less than six seconds when the first examples of the Project One finally hit the streets.
