Porsche Recalling 18,000 Panameras And Cayennes With Engine Problems In The U.S.

It's not for nothing that Porsches tend to stay in service for much longer than most cars, but even they have problems from time to time. Case in point: the latest recall.

Apparently Porsche is having trouble with the engines in certain earlier Panameras and Cayennes. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, some of those vehicles “have camshaft controllers that may come loose inside the engine, potentially resulting in an engine stall.”

Since a stalling engine wouldn't come as very good news for most Porsche owners, the company is calling in 17,986 of them in the United States alone. Included among them are Panameras – including base, S, 4, 4S, and Turbo models – from the 2010-12 model years, and certain 2011 Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo SUVs as well.

The fix will necessitate simply replacing the fastening screws on the camshaft adjusters, which shouldn't take much. However the timeline for doing so has yet to be established.
