The latest 'classic' car set to be featured in F1 2017 has been confirmed as the championship-winning Renault R26 driven by Fernando Alonso in the 2006 season.
Alonso claimed his second successive and most recent driver's championship with the R26, edging out Michael Schumacher for the title. During the season, the Spaniard scored seven race victories and only finished outside of the top 3 on four occasions, two of which were caused by race retirements.
Beyond its recognizable light blue and yellow livery, the R26 is noted for being exceptionally reliable and Alonso had such a successful season that he only ever used a single chassis. As with all other vehicles used during the 2006 season, power for the R26 came from a naturally-aspirate 2.4-liter V8 engine.
Other classic cars to feature in F1 2017 include the F2002 and F2004 Ferraris and the iconic 1988 McLaren-Honda MP4/4 of Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna.
F1 2017 will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on August 25.
