Lotus has been releasing a steady stream of teaser images over the course of the past week or so, previewing a new model it has in the works. The question they raise, of course, is over just what they depict.
Given that Lotus releases a completely new model about as often as a seat on the US Supreme Court opens up, it's safe to assume that we're dealing with a version of one of its existing models: the Elise, Exige, or Evora. And we're fairly certain we're looking at the latter.
While the first two images (showing a wheel and a vent) give us little to go on, the rear air duct and portion of the diffuser in the third looks like they belong to the Evora. That's good news for American fans of the British marque, because the Evora is the only model that Lotus currently sells in the US (for use on public streets anyway).
So just what will separate this new Evora from existing versions? The automaker hints at more power, with upgraded brakes to balance it out, and “aerodynamically evolved” bodywork. Lotus being Lotus, we can expect some weight to be stripped out and the suspension to be retuned as well. For more than that, we'll have to wait and see – but not too long, as the model is slated to be revealed online sometime this week, and we're already halfway through it.
