Facelifted 2018 Mercedes S-Class Coupe And Cabriolet Flaunt Their Upgrades On Video

Mercedes-Benz will celebrate the world premiere of the facelifted S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, next week.

These include the S560 models, together with the AMG S63 4Matic, all of which benefit from a host of visual updates, meant to make them more appealing in the eyes of buyers, as highlighted in their first official trailer.

However, while the S560 could fly under the radar, the same cannot be said about the S63, as these have now received the brand's Panamericana grille, which makes them sexier, in addition to the OLED taillights, and new wheels, 20-inch in size.

The biggest change, though, lies under the hood, where the 5.5-liter twin-turbo engine has been ditched, in favor of the ubiquitous 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which makes 612PS (603hp) and 900Nm (664lb-ft) of torque.

Output is channeled to all four corners through a 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Both the S63 Coupe and S63 Cabriolet need 3.5sec for the 0 to 100km/h (62mph) acceleration, and top speed is electronically capped at 250km/h (155mph). Mercedes claims that the average fuel consumption is 9.3 l/100 km (30.37 mpg UK / 25.29 mpg US).

No technical upgrades have been performed to the AMG S65 Coupe and Cabriolet, as these continue to use the 6.0-liter biturbo V12 engine. Power stands at 630PS (621hp) and 1,000Nm (738lb-ft) of torque, pushed to the rear wheels through a 7-speed gearbox. The 0-100km/h (62mph) takes 4.1sec, and top speed is again electronically limited to 250km/h (155mph).
