Lync & Co’s chief Alain Visser believes that simplicity will be the key for the future success of the new company.
Lync & Co wants to do things differently as it plans to limit model variations and harmonize prices across the Eurozone, along with offering both full ownership and mobility service subscriptions online.
“In Europe and the U.S. we will have a maximum of 10 variants and no options. It's brutally simple, but we believe that is what consumers want,” Lynk & CO Senior Vice President Alain Visser said to AutoNews. “You can imagine how this reduces complexity, reduces cost -- and the cars will always be in stock.”
The Geely-owned company will launch European sales in 2019, with the U.S. to follow a few months later. The first model will be the 01 SUV, with Lync & Co also unveiling a prototype compact sedan last April, the 03 Concept.
“Our prices will be the same across a currency, so in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Spain [they]will be exactly the same," he said. "Everybody compares with the competition in the market … for us, competition is also public transportation, Google, and Uber.”
According to Visser, Lync & Co will also focus on having a lean product offering that changes frequently, including a small number of variants that will change every six months in order to keep them fresh, just like a seasonal collection from a fashion designer.
All Lync & Co models will come packed with connectivity features and even enable their owners to earn some money on the side by sharing their cars with others via a digital key.
