New 2018 Honda Civic Type R Shines In First Review

The Honda Civic Type R is finally coming to America and a lot of fans are curious to see if the model was worth the wait.

We're getting an early answer as Inside Lane has posted a video review of the hot hatch which recently claimed the front-wheel drive Nürburgring lap record.

Based on the clip, it's fair to say the car was well received as the reviewer praised the six-speed manual transmission as an "absolute delight" and noted its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine allowed the car to reach 150 mph (241 km/h) on the Autobahn without breaking a sweat. Other highlights include a comfortable ride quality and a steering system which provides pretty of feedback.

While most competitors have all-wheel drive, Honda got around this by using a limited slip differential and clever engineering. The end result is "very impressive" as the model exhibits minimal torque steer unless you're going all out.

The reviewer admits the car isn't as hardcore as its predecessor but he says that's not a bad thing as the model is better overall and would make a decent daily driver.

While we still don't have official pricing, according to a leaked window sticker, the new Civic Type R will cost $33,900 in the U.S.

Thanks to Greg for the tip!
