Two icons of British racing are celebrating landmark anniversaries this year. One is the Seven, originally launched by Lotus and still produced by Caterham 60 years later. The second is the Donington Park circuit, which is marking its 40th birthday.
It only seems natural, then, that the two should have a joint birthday party. And that's just what they've done. Only by “party,” we mean “special edition.”
Commissioned by the trackday service BookaTrack.com, the limited edition Caterham Seven 420R Donington Edition flies the Union jack with a striking blue livery with red and white stripes. It packs a 2.0-liter Ford Duratec four, sending 210 horsepower through a six-speed Sadev sequential gearbox and limited slip differential to 13-inch wheels on an aero wishbone suspension with competition-spec dampers and specially calibrated springs.
It also features a Superlight cage, aeroscreen, and of course the requisite special badges and plaques. Only ten examples will be offered by the BookaTrack Caterham dealership, with customers left to choose between the standard S3 or the larger SV chassis.
