Rolls-Royce Sweptail Works Fine As A Convertible, Doesn't It?

Rolls-Royce broke the mold by presenting the one-off Sweptail during the 2017 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este last month, on the shores of lake Como, Italy.

Not only it's a one-off, commissioned by a connoisseur, with special exterior and interior design, but it also became the most expensive new car ever sold, carrying a massive price tag of almost $13 million.

There's no way of knowing when, or if, the British marque releases anything close to it. Even so, the Sweptail has been rendered as a convertible, or Drophead Coupe in Rolls-speak, by XTomi.

Despite looking the boss, with lines inspired by classic Rolls-Royce cars from the 1920s and luxury yachts, this exclusive machine uses the same underpinnings as a regular Phantom Coupe, which will eventually be replaced by a new generation that's currently in the works.

Expected to debut next year, it will ride on a new architecture, shared with other future products that will join the brand's family, including the SUV, and it should use a re-worked version of the 6.75-liter V12 engine that powers the outgoing models.
