If you've always liked the Audi R8, then perhaps a trip down memory lane will remind you why you fell in love with it in the first place.
Car reviewer and columnist Doug DeMuro is a pretty big fan of this thing, and so he grabbed hold of this first-generation R8 and went on to explain why the original model was a success and how that led to the car becoming so popular.
Don't be surprised if by the end of this video you're going to want one (if you didn't already), because we ran through the whole thing and saw that DeMuro didn't find much wrong with the car, aside from maybe the surprisingly small trunk. He goes as far as to call the R8 "possibly the greatest halo car of all time", which is high praise indeed. His arguments range from the day-to-day driveability, to the appearance, the performance, the interior quality and even the practicality, all of which he found to be top notch.
The original R8 was powered by the same 4.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 unit used by the RS4 at the time, and as you might know, that was and is still considered to be a great engine, having won multiple awards.
Sure, in a straight line, this R8 might lose out to a modern-day hot hatchback, but back in 2007, this truly was one of the quickest and most practical supercars in the world.
