Should you save this water-damaged 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray? The short answer is probably not, but if you’re the betting type, it could be a good investment.
Listed for sale on Copart, this 2016 Corvette has flood damage but is allegedly still in running condition and remains driveable. That’s good to know, though based on the online listing alone, it is impossible to know if the engine has just a few miles of life left, or if it is undamaged and could happily run for years to come. Visually, there’s no sign that the car has water damage, but in person, things could look different and the carpets may still be dripping wet.
At the time of writing, the current bid was sitting at a rather measly $10,200, about $8,000 less than a 2017 Honda Civic and $45,000 less than a new Corvette Stingray. That sounds like quite a bargain and it seems pretty likely any damage sustained to the sports car could be repaired for far less than $45k.
However, the car will be sold with a salvage certificate and that could come back to bite the future owner if they ever try to part ways with it.
