There was a time when Porsche used to make only sports cars, but that era is long gone and the German automaker has two SUVs in its lineup, the Macan and Cayenne, and a super saloon, the Panamera.
And these are the three vehicles that helped the company reach new sales heights in the first six months of the year, posting a 7 percent increase compared to the same time period in 2016 and shipping 126,497 units worldwide.
"The enthusiastic response from customers has been overwhelming. The plug-in hybrid versions and the new Sport Turismo version of the Panamera will provide us with even more momentum", said the brand's Member of the Executive Board responsible for Sales and Marketing, Detlev von Platen. "The highly attractive products and unique brand experience that Porsche offers are the foundation of our success."
Asia-Pacific, Africa and the Middle East were Porsche's biggest markets in the first half of 2017, with 50,097 sales, up 10 percent, out of which 35,864 were shipped to China, an 18 percent increase.
In Europe, the automaker delivered 42,972 new cars, up 6 percent, including 15,474 in Germany, while on the other side of the pond, 33,428 Porsche vehicles were ordered, including 27,568 in the United States, a 3 percent increase.
