Seen in prototype form for the first time last month, Peugeot's next-gen 508 is expected to feature a myriad of new driver assistance systems.
Of course, in order to access said systems, you'll first need to climb on-board, which apparently could feel a little bit like being inside the automaker's 5008 crossover.
We know this thanks to these latest spy images, which show a partially covered cabin. While most of the multi-layered dashboard is hidden, we can clearly see the 5008-like center console and shifter, as well as the steering wheel, which appears to be the same one used on both the 5008 and 3008 models.
These new images also provide another good look at the car's profile, making it clear that the 508 will feature a fastback rear-end design, or four-door coupe, as some prefer to call it. Of course, aside from the 4-door version, we'll probably see an SW model (wagon) as well since that's pretty much how it goes in this segment.
The visible front-to-rear shoulder line sort of reminds us of the Audi A7, although we're still seeing a lot of Peugeot's Exalt Concept while looking at the overall shape of this prototype.
Based on PSA's EMP2 platform, the all-new 508 should also come in electrified form (PHEV), alongside petrol and diesel versions. As for on-board tech, a Peugeot spokesman did say that hands-free steering and automated braking control would be found among the car's usual assistance systems for highway driving and city parking.
The new 508 is expected to debut sometime next year, when it will face off against the likes of the VW Passat, Opel Insignia, Ford Mondeo, plus the rest of the mid-size gang.
