The Mercedes V-Class might be one of the most luxurious vans on the market but the company is going in a slightly different direction with the V-Class Rise.
Set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the V-Class Rise is a value-oriented model which aims to combine the "classic attributes of the V-Class with an attractive price-performance ratio."
Designed to appeal to customers who want a relatively basic van, the Rise is available in standard or long configurations. Base models come with a five-seat interior but customers can configure the van to accommodate up to eight people.
Under the hood, two different diesel engines will be available. The entry-level model has a 2.1-liter four-cylinder that produces 136 PS (100 kW) and 330 Nm (243 lb-ft) of torque. Customers can also opt for an upgraded 2.1-liter four-cylinder which develops 163 PS (120 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. Regardless of which engine is selected, it can be paired to either a six-speed manual or an optional seven-speed automatic gearbox.
The V-Class Rise is currently available to order and German pricing starts at €34,990. Mercedes says a variety of different options will be available and even when they are selected the model will remain "attractively priced."
