A group of 17 automotive engineers have left Apple to join autonomous vehicle startup Zoox, The Mac Observer reports.
It is asserted that the group of engineers were involved in Apple’s ‘Project Titan’ car project but following the world’s most valuable technology company’s decision to scale back its autonomous vehicle efforts, they’ve left for Zoox.
Among the group are braking and suspension engineers who prior to joining Apple, worked for a number of Detroit automakers.
While Apple has remained largely quiet about its autonomous car ambitions, chief executive Tim Cook did reveal in June that the company is working on autonomous systems, including those for vehicles. It is thought that Apple intends on developing advanced autonomous software and then licensing it to other companies.
