1992 Porsche 911 RS Touring Is One Out Of Just 11 Ever Made

This Porsche is made out of the stuff that drives collectors crazy: it’s air-cooled, carries an RS badge and it’s one of the rarest versions of the 964 generation.

Porsche offered the 964 RS, when new, in two configurations: Sport (which is commonly known as Lightweight) and Touring (RST). The vast majority of customers opted for the Lightweight version, with the Touring getting made in just 11 units, six of which are right-hand drive models for the UK.

This specific example is one of the six UK cars and comes from a family Porsche collection with an extensive history file and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

The 964 RS came with a lowered and stiffer suspension setup, harder suspension bushes, beefier engine and gearbox mounts and bigger brakes straight from the Turbo model. The engine was a blueprinted version of the standard 3.6-liter flat six unit with lighter single mass flywheel and a retuned engine management system. Power was increased by 10hp but the most significant gain was the extra torque.

Touring models were still lighter than the standard Carrera but unlike the Lightweight version, they retained most of the equipment, as well as most of the soundproofing material.

If rare Porsches is your thing and your pockets are deep enough, then this rare beauty could become yours at the upcoming Porsche Sale by Silverstone Auctions on October the 21st. The estimate is set at between £185,000 and £200,000 (around $250k to $270k), plus VAT and buyer’s fees.
